Question: How lucrative is cake decorating (wedding cakes,birthdays ect)?
I need to make more money and am also considering doing a cake decorating course as a hobby but just want to know if people have made money from it.
Answer: It depends a lot on your area and your operating expenses. If your state doesn’t license home bakeries, then in order to advertise and to run a legal business you would have to open a bakery.
Personally, most of my cakes take a lot of expensive supplies and in my area, if I were able to run a cake business (TX does not license home bakeries) I would either have to use lower quality ingredients or charge more than most of my competitors in order to make a profit.
