Sailing

Sailing is a thrilling hobby and a sport. Sailing can give you the most free feeling on the water. Once you learn the basics and the weather is just right, you can feel like you’re flying. But sailing isn’t easy.
First you have to get used to all the rigging, know which sail to raise when and which direction the jib will be. If you don’t pay attention to the jib, it could very well hit you in the head, injure you and that would probably be the last time you are going to sail. It could be deadly if you aren’t careful.
Be prepared for the boat to keel, which means it will lean to either side as it travels fast. Larger boats will be made to compensate for this, but smaller boats tend to be more exciting and interactive because you can then trapeze off the side that’s higher. This is when you grab a line attached to the high point of the mast and brace your feet on the side of the vessel as your straight body hangs backwards over the side providing a counter weight.
There is a lot of work involved in sailing. Being alert and responding to changes quickly will keep you on your toes. Making sure lines don’t get tangled is a must. Once you get the hang of it though, you will be able to be quick and proficient. You will be able to gage the wind and know how the boat will react. Knowing how to steer with the wind will also become natural after practice. Then when you have the basics down and the wind rushing to the sails, you will feel like a natural creature of the sea.
