Golfing

Golfing is one of the most popular hobby and sports of all times for men, women and even children.

Golf is a hobby that requires you to be utterly relaxed at all times. It may sound counter-intuitive, but the more relaxed you are the better your golf swing will be. The golfer is equipped with a bag of clubs ranging in size and weight.

The golf course is usually a long winding vast expanse of close-cropped green grass. Unless you have or rent a golf cart, prepare to do some walking which is a very popular side-benefit when you take up golf as a hobby.

You start at a spot called a teeing area. Little wooden tees are sharp on one end to be pushed into the ground, and have a little cup shape on the other end for the golf ball to rest in. You usually use a driver on your first swing as that will send the ball far.

The hole is usually at least 100 yards away located on the green. As the golfball gets closer to the green, the golfer starts to use the irons which are clubs that range in size and weight, but are generally smaller and lighter than the drivers. Once on the green, after avoiding any hazards on the course such as water and sand, the golfer then uses the putter to put the ball into its hole.

The game is scored by how many strokes it takes to get the ball from the teeing area to the hole. Par is the number of strokes an experienced golfer should make to be able to accomplish this. Pars usually range from 3 to 5 strokes depending on the difficulty of the hole.

Golf can be expensive. Memberships to courses can range from the hundreds of dollars into the hundreds of thousands annually! Some courses have 18 holes but other, smaller ones have only 9 holes, which makes for a faster game that many find more practical. Whichever the course, if the weather is nice and the day is relaxing, you will definitely enjoy playing this game.

Many people also take up golf as a hobby as a way to meet new clients and network with other professionals.
