Soap making is a fun and useful hobby. Soap is made by combining fats with lye (sodium hydroxide) to create a chemical reaction called saponification. Usually people like homemade soap. If you are good at making soap that people like, you can even sell your homemade soap for profit.

How to make soap?

There are a few easy techniques to make soap at home as a hobby. The first soap making technique is the cold processing technique where lye is mixed with cold water and cooked fats, scents and coloring. The mixture is then blended and poured into molds. The soap takes a few weeks to cure in order to evaporate excess moisture before it can be used.

The second technique is the melt and pour process that involves melting and pouring mixtures of premade blocks of soap and infusing the new mixture with our preferred scent. Fats and scented oils are boiled in a solution containing lye, then salt is added and the liquid is drained.

The third technique is re-batching which involves chopping existing soap into small pieces, adding milk or water and heating the mixture until it is thick then pour it into molds and let it cool.
