Puppetry
Category: Indoor Achievement - Posted on June 12th, 2008 ShareThis
Puppetry is not a common hobby since it needs props, a good script and an audience. Puppetry is about putting on a puppet show on a stage that could be a public stage or a private stage at your home.
There are many types of puppets such as:
- Marionettes (controlled by strings)
- Hand puppets
- Rod puppets
- Ticklebugs
- Shadow puppets
How to start puppetry as a hobby?
Puppetry is usually not a one person hobby because a puppet show is more fun when there are more people. However if you want to start puppetry as a hobby alone, then you can just start by:
- making puppets
- writing a script
- practicing controlling your puppet(s)
Once you have a show ready, you can start looking for a stage to perform, either at your home or somewhere else. Then you can invite people to your puppet show.

I’m a school teacher and want to run a puppet show for a school play. Where can I get easy patterns to make puppets? Thanks.
