Dog training is a hobby for people who love animals especially dogs. Dog training can be a way to volunteer to help your community as well as a way to earn extra money.

What is Dog training?

Dog training is the practice of changing a dog’s behavior through a combination of positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and punishment.

Dogs can be trained in a variety of ways, from basic training that teaches the dog to have appropriate behavior around people and other animals to advanced training in sports such as agility (where the dog goes around a course of obstacles).

Additionally, dogs can be trained for a large variety of jobs including:

hunting,
police work,
drug or cadaver detecting,
tracking,
guiding people with visual disabilities,
assisting people with mobility handicaps,
guarding and herding sheep, or
pulling a sled.

Different breeds of dogs have been developed for different types of jobs. For example, there are herding breeds for sheep herding and many people-oriented jobs, sight hounds for hunting, and Nordic breeds for pulling sleds.
