What is Cross-Stitching?
Cross-stitching is a hobby that involves the hand-sewing art using embroidery thread and special fabric with small squares.
How to cross stitch?
Two stitches in each square are sewn diagonally to form an x shape. The x’s are clustered to create shapes and designs, with different colors of embroidery thread.
With cross-stitching, one can create pictures to be framed or decorative pillow cases. Cross-stitching and embroidery together are relatively old arts; in the 19th century young girls displayed their abilities with a needle through creating samplers–patterns, alphabets, and so forth.
Cross-stitching has also been used to enhance linens of various sorts—hand towels, pillow cases, table runners, and table cloths.
